″He waited for you for ages,″ Nino said hurriedly, fearful of upsetting his customers again.
“그분은 아주 오랫동안 너를 기다리셨단다.” 손님들을 또 화나게 할까 봐 걱정하며 니노가 서둘러 말했다.
″He thought something terrible had happened to you — kept on talking about men in gray, or something of the kind.
“할아버지는 너에게 무슨 끔찍한 일이라도 생긴 줄 아셨어. 계속 회색 신사들이니 뭐니 하는 것들에 대해 떠드셨지.”
Well, you know old Beppo — he always was a bit eccentric.″
“뭐, 너도 베포 할아버지를 잘 알잖니. 원래 좀 별난 분이시기도 하고.”
니노조차도 이제는 베포 할아버지의 진실한 경고를 eccentric(별난, 괴짜 같은) 행동으로 치부하며 대수롭지 않게 여기고 있습니다.
″You, there!″ called a voice from the back of the line. ″When are we going to get some service?″
“거기 이봐요!” 줄 뒤쪽에서 어떤 목소리가 소리쳤다. “도대체 언제쯤 계산을 해 줄 거요?”
″Right away, sir!″ Nino called back. ″What happened then?″ asked Momo.
“금방 갑니다, 손님!” 니노가 대꾸했다. “그래서 그다음엔 어떻게 됐나요?” 모모가 물었다.
