From eight to nine, Wilbur planned to take a nap outdoors in the sun.

hominy는 옥수수 알갱이를 알칼리 처리를 하여 껍질을 벗겨낸 식품입니다. 당시 미국 농가에서 가축 사료나 간단한 식사 대용으로 흔히 사용하던 재료입니다.

그리고 치즈 포장지까지요. 점심은 한 시에 끝날 테고, 한 시부터 두 시까지 윌버는 잠을 잘 예정이었어요.
From two to three, he planned to scratch itchy places by rubbing against the fence.
두 시부터 세 시까지는 울타리에 몸을 비벼 가려운 곳을 긁을 생각이었지요.
From three to four, he planned to stand perfectly still and think of what it was like to be alive, and to wait for Fern.

a piece of baked apple, a scrap of upsidedown cake. Wilbur had gone to sleep thinking about these plans.
구운 사과 한 조각과 케이크 부스러기까지 말이에요. 윌버는 이런 계획들을 떠올리며 잠이 들었었지요.
upsidedown cake는 틀 바닥에 과일을 깔고 반죽을 부어 구운 뒤, 완성된 케이크를 거꾸로 뒤집어 과일이 위로 오게 만드는 케이크를 말합니다.
He awoke at six and saw the rain, and it seemed as though he couldn’t bear it.
하지만 여섯 시에 잠에서 깨어 비가 오는 걸 본 윌버는 도저히 참을 수가 없었어요.
“I get everything all beautifully planned out and it has to go and rain,” he said. For a while he stood gloomily indoors.
“일과표를 완벽하게 다 짜놨는데 하필 비가 오다니.” 윌버가 투덜거렸어요. 윌버는 한동안 우울하게 실내에 서 있었지요.
