He paused and took off his reading glasses again. “It glimmered in their kindness to him,” he repeated, smiling.

He closed the book, put it down, and leaned forward on the podium.

verbosity(버보시티)는 다변 혹은 장황함을 뜻하는 격식 있는 단어입니다. 교장 선생님께서 자신의 연설이 늘 길어지는 것을 스스로 유머러스하게 표현하고 계시네요.
Here everybody laughed again. I guess he knew he was known for his long speeches.
여기서 모두가 다시 웃음을 터뜨렸다. 그도 자신이 긴 연설로 소문나 있다는 걸 아는 모양이었다.
“But what I want you, my students, to take away from your middle-school experience,” he continued,
