It had snowed the day before—not as much as it had snowed over the Thanksgiving break, but still, snow is snow.

And August had made his step pyramid out of sugar cubes.
어거스트는 각설탕을 쌓아 계단식 피라미드를 만들었다.
It was two feet high and two feet long, and he had spray painted the cubes with this kind of fake-sand paint or something.
높이와 길이가 각각 60센티미터 정도였는데, 각설탕 위에 모래 질감이 나는 스프레이를 뿌려 완성했다.
two feet은 약 60센티미터에 해당합니다. 꽤 정성이 많이 들어간 대형 과제였음을 알 수 있습니다.
It looked so awesome. We all dressed up in Egyptian costumes.
정말 근사해 보였다. 우리는 모두 이집트 의상을 차려입었다.
Some of the kids were Indiana Jones-type archaeologists. Some of them dressed up like pharaohs.
어떤 애들은 인디아나 존스 같은 고고학자 복장을 했고, 어떤 애들은 파라오처럼 꾸몄다.
August and I dressed up like mummies. Our faces were covered except for two little holes for the eyes and one little hole for the mouth.
어거스트와 나는 미라로 변신했다. 눈을 위한 작은 구멍 두 개와 입을 위한 작은 구멍 하나만 남기고 얼굴 전체를 꽁꽁 감쌌다.
얼굴을 가릴 수 있는 미라 분장은 어거스트에게 할로윈 가면처럼 편안함과 해방감을 주는 장치가 됩니다.
When the parents showed up, they all lined up in the hallway in front of the gym.
부모님들이 오시자, 모두 체육관 앞 복도에 줄을 서서 기다리셨다.
Then we were told we could go get our parents, and each kid got to take his or her parent on a flashlight tour through the dark gym.
이윽고 부모님을 모셔 와도 좋다는 허락이 떨어졌고, 아이들은 각자 부모님을 모시고 어두컴컴한 체육관 안을 손전등으로 비추며 관람을 시작했다.
