“그 후에 겁이 나서 기가 죽어 지냈을 수도 있고.”
But that he should be singled out into the bargain with a decoration for his cowardice,
“그런데 비겁한 짓을 저지른 대가로 오히려 특별한 훈장 같은 표식을 받았다는 건 이상하지 않니?”
which protects him and strikes terror into everyone else, that is really rather odd.”
“그 표식이 그를 보호해주고 다른 모든 사람을 공포에 떨게 했다니, 그건 정말이지 앞뒤가 안 맞잖아.”
“Certainly,” I said, interested. The case began to interest me. “But how else should one explain the story?”
