A week ago Saturday, Boche suddenly got sick. He sat quite still and started drooling.
일주일 전 토요일에 ‘보허’가 갑자기 아팠어. 가만히 앉아서 침을 흘리더라고.
Boche(보허)는 창고에 쥐가 들끓는 것을 막기 위해 기르던 고양이의 이름입니다.
Miep immediately picked him up, rolled him in a towel, tucked him in her shopping bag and brought him to the dog-and-cat clinic.
미프 언니가 즉시 보허를 수건으로 감싸 쇼핑백에 넣고는 동물 병원으로 데려갔어.
Boche had some kind of intestinal problem, so the vet gave him medicine.
장 쪽에 문제가 있었나 봐. 그래서 수의사가 약을 처방해줬대.
Peter gave it to him a few times, but Boche soon made himself scarce. I'll bet he was out courting his sweetheart.
페터가 약을 몇 번 먹였더니 보허는 금세 자취를 감췄어. 분명 연애하러 밖으로 나간 게 틀림없어.
But now his nose is swollen and he meows whenever you pick him up— he was probably trying to steal food and somebody smacked him.
그런데 지금은 코가 퉁퉁 부어 있고 안아 들기만 하면 야옹거려. 아마 음식 같은 걸 훔쳐 먹으려다 누군가에게 한 대 얻어맞았나 봐.
Mouschi lost her voice for a few days. Just when we decided she had to be taken to the vet too, she started getting better.
무시도 며칠 동안 목소리가 나오지 않았어. 고양이까지 병원에 데려가야겠다고 마음먹은 순간, 다행히 나아지기 시작하더라고.
We now leave the attic window open a crack every night. Peter and I often sit up there in the evening.
요즘 우린 매일 밤 다락방 창문을 조금씩 열어둬. 저녁이면 페터랑 난 거기 자주 앉아 있곤 해.
다락방 창문을 조금 열어두는 것은 환기를 위한 것이기도 했지만, 밖으로 불빛이나 소리가 새어 나갈 위험이 있는 꽤 대담한 행동이었습니다.
Thanks to rubber cement and oil paint, our toilet could quickly be repaired.
고무 풀이랑 유성 페인트 덕분에 변기도 금방 고칠 수 있었어.
The broken faucet has been replaced. Luckily, Mr. Kleiman is feeling better.
망가진 수도꼭지도 새로 갈았고 말이야. 다행히 클라이만 아저씨도 기운을 좀 차리셨대.
He's going to see a specialist soon. We can only hope he won't need an operation.
조만간 전문의에게 진찰을 받으실 텐데, 제발 수술까지는 안 하셔도 되기를 바랄 뿐이야.
This month we received eight Ration books. Unfortunately, for the next two weeks beans have been substituted for oatmeal or groats.
