Dearest Kitty, Mrs. van D. has a new nickname — we've started calling her Mrs. Beaverbrook.
사랑하는 키티, 반 단 아주머니한테 새 별명이 생겼어. 우린 아주머니를 ‘비버브룩 부인’이라고 부르기 시작했지.
Beaverbrook(비버브룩)은 영국의 언론 재벌이자 정치가였던 비버브룩 경을 말합니다. 아주머니에게 왜 이런 별명이 붙었는지는 다음 대목에서 이어집니다.
