Was it one of our own warehouse employees, and will he turn us in, now that he's heard Mr. van Daan and maybe even seen him?

It's really scary, since we don't know whether the burglar will take it into his head to try and get in again.
도둑이 또 들어오려고 마음먹을지도 모르니까 정말 무서워.
Or was he so startled when he heard someone else in the building that he'll stay away?
아니면 건물 안에 누가 있는 걸 알고 깜짝 놀라서 다신 안 오려나?

탐정을 찾아달라는 말은 실제 탐정을 고용하겠다는 의도라기보다, 도둑의 정체를 밝혀내고 싶은 식구들의 답답함을 안네 특유의 재치로 표현한 것입니다.
Obviously, there's one condition: he must be relied upon not to inform on people in hiding.

3월 1일 도둑 사건에 대한 기록 이후 하루가 지난 시점의 일기입니다.
Dearest Kitty, Margot and I were in the attic together today.
사랑하는 키티, 오늘 마르고트 언니랑 같이 다락방에 있었어.
I can't enjoy being there with her the way I imagine it'd be with Peter (or someone else).
언니랑 있는 건 페터(아니면 다른 누군가)랑 함께 있을 때 기대하는 그런 즐거움은 없어.
I know she feels the same about most things as I do!
대부분의 일에 대해 언니도 나랑 비슷하게 느낀다는 건 알지만 말이야!
While doing the dishes, Bep began talking to Mother and Mrs. van Daan about how discouraged she gets.
설거지를 하다가 베프 언니가 엄마랑 반 단 아주머니에게 자기가 얼마나 낙심해 있는지 이야기하기 시작했어.
