크리시모그래프(crisimograph)는 위기를 뜻하는 그리스어 krisis와 기록을 뜻하는 graphein을 합쳐 만든 작가의 창작 용어입니다.

“이건 인류 역사에 닥친 위기들을 정확하게 기록해 주지. 그리고 방금 전, 아주 드물게 일어나는 위기 중 하나가 막 시작되었단다.”
″What's a crisis?″ asked Momo. ″It's like this,″ the professor explained.
“위기가 뭐예요?” 모모가 물었다. “그건 이런 거란다.” 박사가 설명했다.
″At certain junctures in the course of existence, unique moments occur when everyone and everything, even the most distant stars,
“존재의 흐름 중 특정한 시점이 되면, 아주 먼 별들까지 포함해 모든 사람과 만물이 결합하여 유일무이한 순간을 만들어 낸단다.”
junctures는 시간이나 사건의 흐름에서 맞닥뜨리는 아주 중요한 시점 혹은 연결점을 의미합니다.

“예전에는 결코 일어날 수 없었고, 앞으로도 다시는 일어나지 않을 그런 순간을 말이지.”

“불행히도 그런 결정적인 순간을 어떻게 활용해야 할지 아는 사람은 거의 없어서, 대부분은 그냥 눈치채지 못한 채 지나치고 만단다.”

“하지만 누군가 그 순간을 알아본다면, 세상에는 아주 위대한 일이 벌어지게 되지.”
″Perhaps one needs a watch like yours to recognize them by,″ said Momo.
“그런 순간을 알아보려면 박사님이 가진 것 같은 시계가 필요하겠네요.” 모모가 말했다.
Professor Hora smiled and shook his head. ″No, my child, the watch by itself would be no use to anyone.
호라 박사는 미소를 지으며 고개를 저었다. “아니란다, 얘야. 시계만 있어서는 아무 소용이 없단다.”
You have to know how to read it as well.″ He snapped the watch shut and replaced it in his pocket.
“시계를 읽는 법도 알아야 한단다.” 그는 시계를 딸깍 닫아 주머니에 넣었다.
Then, noticing Momo's ill-concealed surprise at his personal appearance, he looked down at himself and frowned.
그러고는 자신의 겉모습에 놀란 기색을 감추지 못하는 모모를 보고는, 자신을 내려다보며 미간을 찌푸렸다.
″Ah,″ he said, ″you may be punctual, but I seem to be rather behind the times - in fashion, I mean.
“아,” 그가 말했다. “네가 시간을 아주 잘 맞춰 오긴 했다만, 내가 시대에 좀 뒤떨어진 모양이구나. 그러니까 내 패션 말이다.”
