When he had finished the last drop, he grunted and walked sleepily into the box.

어느새 윌버는 짚 속에 터널을 파고는 그 안으로 기어 들어가 버렸어요. 짚에 완전히 파묻혀 보이지 않게 되었답니다.
짚 속에 터널을 파고 들어가는 것은 돼지의 본능적인 습성으로, 추위로부터 몸을 보호하기 위한 행동입니다.
Fern was enchanted. It relieved her mind to know that her baby would sleep covered up, and would stay warm.
펀은 넋을 잃고 그 모습을 지켜보았어요. 아기 돼지가 짚 이불을 덮고 따뜻하게 잠들 수 있다는 걸 알게 되니 마음이 놓였지요.
Every morning after breakfast, Wilbur walked out to the road with Fern and waited with her till the bus came.
매일 아침 식사를 마친 뒤, 윌버는 펀과 함께 길가로 나가 스쿨버스가 올 때까지 함께 기다렸어요.
She would wave good-bye to him, and he would stand and watch the bus until it vanished around a turn.
펀이 손을 흔들며 작별 인사를 하면, 윌버는 버스가 모퉁이를 돌아 사라질 때까지 그 자리에 서서 지켜보곤 했답니다.
While Fern was in school, Wilbur was shut up inside his yard.
펀이 학교에 가 있는 동안 윌버는 울타리 안에 갇혀 있어야 했어요.
But as soon as she got home in the afternoon, she would take him out and he would follow her around the place.
하지만 오후에 펀이 집에 돌아오면 곧장 윌버를 밖으로 데리고 나갔고, 윌버는 펀을 졸졸 따라다녔지요.
If she went into the house, Wilbur went, too. If she went upstairs, Wilbur would wait at the bottom step until she came down again.
펀이 집 안으로 들어가면 윌버도 따라 들어갔어요. 펀이 이층으로 올라가면 다시 내려올 때까지 맨 아래 계단에서 기다리기도 했답니다.
If she took her doll for a walk in the doll carriage, Wilbur followed along.
펀이 인형 유모차를 끌고 산책을 나가면 윌버도 그 뒤를 따랐어요.
Sometimes, on these journeys, Wilbur would get tired, and Fern would pick him up and put him in the carriage alongside the doll.
산책을 하다 윌버가 지치면 펀은 윌버를 들어 올려 유모차에 있는 인형 옆에 태워 주기도 했어요.
He liked this. And if he was very tired, he would close his eyes and go to sleep under the doll’s blanket.
윌버는 유모차 타는 걸 참 좋아했어요. 너무 피곤할 때면 인형 담요 밑에서 눈을 감고 잠이 들곤 했지요.
