David moved closer to Ashley and said, “Toni? Are you there, Toni? I’d like to talk to you.”
As they watched, Ashley’s face went through another remarkable transformation. Her persona changed before their eyes.
There was a new assurance, a sexual awareness. She began to sing in that clear, throaty voice:
